Boiling the Ocean: a new business model of Real Estate
How can I actively participate in the campaign and make it about the experiences, love, and family aspects of the home?
This Blog post follows on from Social Media challenging the norm: a new business model of Real Estate and Accessing Markets within Australian Property Industry
Participate is a verb and like any verb if you blindly execute without a strategy and plan you’re bound to fail!
So participation implies a plan to ensure your social media objective works. You want to ensure you reach the right demographic and establish trust and authority, but what is your plan? In analyzing this I have put together a 2 step strategy:
Understand your objective
Clearly my objective is to sell my home effectively and efficiently by engaging targeted communities through Social Media. This meant that I needed to create an experience that attracted potential customers (boiling the ocean) so that they’ share their personal details (condensation) so that I could market to them – basically I wanted an email address and contact information.
Planning the how
With the clarity of my objective I went through a three phase execution strategy, namely:
Aggregate my targeted demographic through Facebook and to do this I built a custom Facebook Fan page. Structured an advertising campaign (current Charges per click – CPC and impressions below) targeting a demographic of women, married, between 40-60yrs and specific geographic location.
SlideShare – The YouTube of PowerPoint
Have you ever heard of SlideShare.net? Michael Arrington, the founder and co-editor of TechCrunch, called it the YouTube of PowerPoint. People would like to view, upload and share views and comment of PowerPoint and PDF, just like they do on YouTube.
PowerPoint is a good way to explain your new ideas, you can visualize the concept easily slides by slides. You can easily share your wisdom worldwide on SlideShare, and you can also find some fabulous stories on SlideShare.net. Many of the most views and hot downloaded slides are innovative.
Sharing your own work to over 25 million monthly visitors
Sharing your masterpiece on SlideShare is just like uploading a clip on YouTube. People would leave a comment, pick your slides as favorite, and you can even embed your slides to the blogs and websites.
How to get started? Just sign up and then you can upload many dozens of supported formats, like PDF, PPT, docs.
No one would be interested in a boring slide, so innovation, creativity and brilliance are important. Many PowerPoint tutorials teach you to make your PowerPoint simple and clear, but not on SlideShare.net. Ideas, Images, background are extremely essential. You can design your slide like a magazine. A colorful or meaningful slide will gain the attention of the visitors.
Are you being the BEST in the world?
Are you being the BEST in the world?
Are you really committed to being the best in the world at what you do? I’m not talking about global domination here, but the universe in which you operate. For most people, your world is simply your marketing territory (personal connections, LinkedIn connections, Facebook Friends, Twitter followers,…).
Going on that assumption, do you have a top-of-mind positioning in your territory that says you are the best in the area? Does the public consider you to be the best in your industry?
At the same time you must constantly work to improve – as per Seth’s video.
I’d like to explore in greater depth how to know if you’re really doing the things it takes to be the best in your “world.”
Are you committed?
Wikipedia – A Quick-Reference, Online Encyclopedia

The Internet can feel like a seemingly endless black hole of information. Thankfully Google and other search engines make information more accessible and findable, but you still have to carefully discriminate fact from almost-fact and fiction. For many topics, Google search engine result pages include links to Wikipedia. It sounds credible enough-almost like an encyclopedia-but exactly what is it?
What is Wikipedia?
Wikipedia combines the Hawaiian word “wiki,” meaning “fast,” with encyclopedia. Because of the Wikipedia phenomenon, a new meaning for wiki has evolved, and it now can refer to any website or effort that is built through collaboration of a larger community. So, Wikipedia is a quick-reference, online encyclopedia built through the collaboration of multiple contributors.
